Ocean Beach in San Francisco is located near Golden Gate Park. This beach is great for sand castle building, surfing, beautiful sunsets, bonfires and letting your dog run loose without a leash. Sorry, no alcohol allowed on the beach.

During hot summer days, this beach gets very packed. Also, be aware that it can get cold and foggy, so be sure to check the weather before you head out. Ocean beach is well known for its annual sand sculpture contest held once a year. Nearby check out Sutro Baths (looks like ancient ruins), but were actually built in 1896 as the world’s largest public swimming pools.
